The Abel Tasman Coast Track, from Marahau to Wainui is 51km (32 mile) long. The section between Marahau and Totaranui is 38 kms (24 miles) and this part of the track is serviced by our boats and covered on our multiday trips.
The track is managed and maintained to a very high standard by the Department of Conservation, with no points higher than 200 metres (650 feet). Between Totaranui and Marahau, it is well-formed and heavy hiking boots are not necessary.
Details on walking times and track profiles are available on the Department of Conservation website.
For a civilised adventure, staying at beachfront lodges along the coast track, please go to our Multiday Trip Finder. Otherwise, for our walking and transport travel packages offered all year, see our Backpacker Deals.
From Totaranui northwards, the track is not so well formed and no commercial boat services are permitted to land at the beaches. This means the section is more isolated and road transfers must be booked to and from the trail head at Wainui.
